Alex M. asked a question
during the live chat Deloitte 'ON AIR' Chat - Scotland & Northern Ireland
to Deloitte UK Recruitment Team
And also could anyone give me an idea of how the different service lines interact together?
Thanks for your help!
Hi Alex, what service line is this for?
It's for tax, specifically private client services.
Is it for the Newcastle Office?
Yeah in Newcastle!
Private Clients normally are very complicated so we need to give them assistance with their tax computations. You may need to help out the audit team if the private client is an audit client
Thanks so much! Are you based in Newcastle?
Yes I am, it's a brilliant office to work for. Just the right size so we know each other!
Hi Alex, I have completed a bit of work with PCS through my role in corporate tax and it seems that the team have to be up to date with current legislation and apply it in real life situations. PCS also involves a lot of face to face client work too which is good and so being able to demonstrate your "people skills" would be an advantage in your application!
I loved it when I came for my first interview. Could you give me any advice for my final interview?
Thanks Alex! I'm working in a client based role at the minute so I can definitely demonstrate my people skills with good examples!
That's good news and sounds like it should give you a few examples to talk about then! In terms of the final interview, as well as refreshing yourself on your competencies it would be useful to demonstrate commercial awareness by referring to current events which apply to PCS. For example, there is some interesting legislation coming in about stamp duty which comes into effect this year called ATED - if you could talk about something like that and how you could apply it in a real-life situation then that would show that you have thought about your role.
Thank you! This has been so helpful. I have to go back to work, but if there's any other advice, I'll be sure to read it later. Thanks again!
