What areas of the company is Deloitte growing within the next 5-10 years?
Technology - our services based on technology are in high demand. Forensic Technology has doubled in size to 100 people over the last 4 years.
The Forensic Technology team are heavily involved in Financial Crime investigations all over Europe
Wow that is so cool. Do you think, with the Internet of Things, technology will expand into the other parts of Deloitte?
Yes our Audit practice has a dedicated Technology team who are looking at ways to use technology to improve the audit experience. There is a Technology team in Consulting who implement strategic systems for clients and another team who are looking at how new disruptive technologies will effect business, such as Block chain.
We have recently taken the decision in Forensic Technology to start an Application Development team to develop tools and technologies to assist with Investigations
What degree are you studying?
Nice! Are there a lot of females within the team? I've noticed in tech that the ratio between men and women is uneven
Hi Victoria. You mentioned Block Chain. Does forensic technology investigate cryptocurrencies?
I studied Geography but I started TEDx at university, which sparked my interest in technology - all our sponsors and most of our speakers were tech companies
We are looking at how Block Chain can assist our clients with meeting their Regulatory requirements rather cryptocurrencies
Hi Emrana, for our last year graduate intake 35% of our intake were females. We have an active graduate recruitment campaign to aim for a 50:50 intake for 2017. Our main aim is to attract female candidates to apply as we have a lower percentage of females applying for the Forensic Technology graduate roles than males.
Ah cool! Typically, how many projects at a time do graduates usually work on?
On the FT graduate program you will spend one year in Electronic Discovery and one year in Forensic Analytics.
Within Electronic Discovery, graduates tend to work on multiple smaller projects
Within Forensic Analytics, graduates tend to work on one project for longer periods of time e.g. 6-9 months
Nice! How is performance measured? and how are the graduates supported?
Graduates will have a buddy when the first join, this will be a second year graduates to help you answer any questions you have about your day to day role. You will then have a mentor who will guide you in your learning and development and provide insight into their experiences.
For performance measurement you will have a Coach who will help you build objectives and targets for the year. You will meet throughout the year and discuss how you are progressing. You will also have fortnightly catch-ups with our project team leader to make sure you are performing well and to provide you with feedback
That sounds really helpful! Last question, what is one piece of advice that is the most important thing to remember when applying?
Make you sure you research the role, you should be able to anticipate what your day to day activities will be. Also ensure you have researched the company, why Deloitte, why Forensics? And make sure you know about our competitors.
Thanks so much!
You are welcome!
