Assistant Manager- Financial Services Tax, Deloitte UK

Hi Alastair, thanks for your question. I have definitely been surprised by the kind of work I do in tax. I thought it would be a lot of tax returns and compliance work and was even put off applying at first. However, there is such a variety of work available that I've found a niche in an area of Tax Consulting where I solely do advisory and consulting work.

I'd second Chloe - a definite surprise how not boring tax really is! On personal level, I was surprised by the number of social events we have - loads! and the turnout, most people show up and before you know it your work colleagues are your outside-of-work friends that you see every day! Not being originally from London, it was great to have people to hang out with.
